Hi beauty friends!
I have been trying out a new FULL coverage foundation and so far, I am loving it! It is the Jouer full coverage foundation. I have been using this foundation for a over a week, so I can finally give you all a review. I am a full coverage girl, always have been, and always will be! I just love the cake, cake cake cake (lol). I love having a flawless canvas for date night, a night out with my girlfriends, or even just for when I want to feel and look extra!
Foundation Claims
- Supreme Coverage
- Light weight
- Long wearing crème foundation
My Thoughts
The Jouer foundation is definitely FULL coverage. It gives a very matte finish, feels very light weight. It dries super quick so you do have to work quickly when applying. It is not a very forgiving if you have dry skin or dry patches because it will CLING to any dry patches that you may have. I originally tried this foundation with no primer and I was not a fan. I decided to give a try to with a hydrating primer like this one from MakeUp Forever or if you’re on a budget you can also try this hydrating primer from Maybelline. The foundation lasts all day, I wore it from 9am to 9:30pm and the makeup was still full coverage by the end of day. To remove, I definitely recommend doing a double cleanse to ensure that all of the product is removed. During the summer time the heat rises and I typically don’t like to wear full coverage, but because this is so mattifying and lightweight, I think that it will be perfect for summer so that it can soap up any oils that may want to seep throughout the day. I love a natural glow, not a sweaty glow!
My Shade
I purchased 3 shades in this Jouer foundation: Fawn, Almond, and Latte. Fawn was too light, but I loved the yellow undertone. Almond looked like it could have been a perfect color for me, but the undertone was so pink- after it dried I looked dirty. Latte was a tad bit too dark for me an it did have a more yellow undertone with a hint of orange. I made my own mix 50/50: Fawn + Latte to give me the perfect combination- Fawn gave me the yellow that I needed and Latte added some color. When I start doing my fake tanning during the warmer months then I think that I could get away with just Latte.
How I Like To Apply The Foundation
I like to apply the foundation with a beauty blender or you can use a more affordable version of the beauty blender like this one (only $5.99!). I apply my Lancome moisturizer and let that absorb, I then apply my hydrating primer, I get the beauty blender soaked and let it grow in size while squeezing out the excess water – damp beauty blender (stand by your sink because you will be soaking the blender a few times!). Now that you have the prep and prime ready for your foundation, let’s get started! I pump about half a pump out of foundation and apply it directly to my right cheek, I work quickly dabbing the damp beauty blender only on my right cheek, my right eye lid, my right chin (right side of my face everything below the brows). I soak the beauty blender AGAIN, and now repeat the foundation application on my left side. I soak the beauty blender AGAIN, and now I focus on my forehead, nose and basically the T zone area. We are almost done, I promise – lol, I soak the beauty blender AGAIN and now I just focus on my neck and ears so that everything is matching perfectly. The reason behind the repetitive soaking of the beauty blender and working in sections is because this foundation dries so quickly and once it dries and sets it will not budge and it very difficult to blend once it sets. This is how I got the best results, so I thought id share with you all! It may seem like a lot of work, but it only takes an extra minute and you’ll be FLAWLESS. Also, it doesn’t require more foundation than you would typically use either.
